Many different types of whale can be found in these waters, such as the sperm whale, minke, humpback, and more comprising over twenty species. However, one of the most popular species here is the orca whale, which is a common favorite for visitors. With that being said, the famous killer whale from the cinematic film “Free Willy” was originally captured in Icelandic waters and returned years later to be released back into the wild.
