Some even take short trips to places like the Dominican Republic that offer programs to pick up some volunteer hours or short-term courses worth credits with their institution. But you don't have to be volunteering or taking courses to experience a bit of the Dominican. It still makes for a wonderful and budget-friendly getaway.
