WoZoCo

The first building on this list of incredible structures for housing across the globe is the WoZoCo building located in Ookmeerweg, Amsterdam. MVRDV architects designed the structure, and it has received attention for its unique solution to a housing issue in the community. The original design was built for elder housing in the city. However, with the need for more space, the architects jokingly pitched the idea of simply sticking the extra rooms on the outside of the structure like glue. This joke quickly became an intriguing solution, and thus the unique formation of the WoZoCo unit came to fruition. The wooden sheathing on these additional units attached to the North Face gives a beautiful contrast and helps solve one of Amsterdam's raising issues in the community, overpopulation, which is trying to be solved with such buildings to protect the environment in the region from commercialization.
