10 Most Suggestive Buildings On Earth

June 17, 2023

Hey Tourist! There are plenty of beautiful buildings on earth that take impressive architectural shapes and make for great landmarks, but there are also plenty of buildings out there that take more suggestive shapes. Every now and then there is a designer who either purposefully, or by accident, makes a building similar shape to a certain male gland. With such a phallic shape, there are plenty of buildings out there that get lots of heat from communities, but also make for a good joke! Following are some of the most suggestive structures out there and their brief history.

The Gherkin

The first stop on the list of incredibly suggestive buildings that may or may not havebeen designedaftera certainmale gland is the Gherkin. Otherwise known as the St. Mary Axe, this structure is a quitepopularbuilding in London, England, and is used as a commercial skyscraper in the major cities’ financial district. Although iconic for its large glass structure and a truly magnificent breathtaking interior design, there is one comical detail; the Gherkin looks identical to male genitalia, which is perhaps the main reason behind its pickle nickname. This construction has been erect since 2003 and has been the center of many jokes since then. To be fair though, how can one not make a joke at the expense of London’s 'Big One,' icon or not.

It's time to move onto the next suggestive building! Keep reading for more innuendo.

Illinois Christian Science Church

Next, we’ll swing by the Christian Science Church located in Illinois, USA. Now, if one were to think the last building looked shockingly similar to a unique male body part, this next building will certainly blow them away. This structure not only has the same shape but is also equipped with the whole package (at the base) and is even curved in a suggestive manner which begs the question, 'What were they thinking?' Not only is the shape of this building a hilariously phallic form, but the fact the building is located in a city called Dixon and is a Christian science building is also funny. It’s like the architect was setting the world up for centuries of jokes in mind. Working there must be hard.

Knob Tower

The next building, a structure in Newcastle, Australia, has joined the competition to the top. The building is officially called the Queens Wharf Tower. However the locals have taken to calling it the 'Big Knob,' and for a good reason. Unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on how you look at it, the giant male-knob-shaped building has been scheduled to be demolished for reasons of lack of accessibility, although maybe it’s just making all the local men self-conscious. Perhaps some local petitioners will lobby to save the Queen’s Knob in the near future. Regardless, this once erect masterpiece will be taken down by one of those wrecking blue balls soon enough.

This just in! Keep reading for the next building.

People's Daily News Building

That’s right, the next suggestive building from around the world is a news tower in China. This structure is called the People’s Daily News Building and is placed in Beijing, right where the sun doesn’t shine. According to local government, media companies have been struggling to put a cap on all of the jokes the youth have been making on social media platforms like Weibo, but when a government decides to build a phallus edifice, there will be consequences. Perhaps the humor surrounding the new construction will die down soon, but for now, the fresh building is making more news than it is producing, the stiff competition out there.

Continue for the water tower innuendo on this list.

Ypsilanti Water Tower

Ypsilanti Water Tower, located in Michigan, is the next comedic building to make the list of phallic structures, and is quite famous, but for a different reason. This water tower, designed by William R. Coats, was a part of some of the original waterworks projects in the 1880s and was a system meant to bring running water to much of Ypsilanti. A marble bust of Demetrius Ypsilanti resides here, but it’s not the only thing busting out of the ground. This water tower, although historic, has been deemed one of the most suggestively shaped buildings in America and for a solid reason. The building's rich history and big shaft with a rounded top is sure to excite any historian.

Is everything bigger in Texas? Keep reading to find out.

Reunion Tower

Reunion Tower is the next destination for readers to view, with another one of the more suggestive buildings tobe madein recent history. This building, Reunion Tower in Texas, USA, is an intriguing structure composed of a stretching shaft into the sky with a big rounded tip at the top, where guests are welcome to view the city. A surprising fact of this building is with the advanced elevator it only takes sixty-eight seconds to get to the top. Doesn’t last long, does it? One thing is clear: a good portion of these buildings is coming from the USA. Just something to think about.

Of course, the next one on the list isn't in the United States. Continue for more.

Hamilton Mausoleum

For the next stop on the list, we are heading to Scotland to see the Hamilton Mausoleum, a building locatedin the south of Lanarkshire and a resting place of the family of the Dukes of Hamilton since 1842. Although such a construction has a past with a crucial historical family, it is apparent in this structure that there is more than one tall tale. The outside of this Mausoleum is shaped much like the identifying gland for a male and has received some critique over the years. With a broad base and a tall tower topping off with a rounded cap, one needs little imagination to come up with a fewcleverjokes. There is one question that remains, however. How could a country with a reputation for getting whiskey drunk manage to get it up? No performance issues here.

Ready for the next one?

Yas Viceroy Abu Dhabi Hotel

Yas Viceroy Abu Dhabi Hotel is the next building to make the list of top male-genitalia buildings. Such a premise is worth an incredible amount of money andis locatedin the very wealthy region of the United Arab Emirates. This hotel is one of a kind and from the ground looks like a great institution full of entertainment, comfort, and good food. However, when observed from the sky, this building takes a different shape. With a long curved front coming down to meet two spherical structures, this building is the perfect depiction of the entire package.

Ready for a Spanish adventure?

Agbar Tower

Remember the old adage, 'History is bound to repeat itself? Well, it is not entirely wrong. This next building is the Ag'bar Tower in Spain, also known as the Torre Glories. Does the structure look familiar? It should, because it is strikingly similar to the shape of the first building in this list, the Gherkin. Although they are similar, this structure was made in 1999, meaning that one male-genital building was just not enough, but the world needed another. This Spanish icon is thirty-eight stories of pure phallicism and towering architecture. Such a structure thrusting out of the Spanish ground is sure to make men jealous of such a big glass pickle.

It's time for the final entry on this list of suggestive buildings.

Hoad Monument

Last but not least, the final building in the list of male-junk shaped structures is the Hoad Monument in Ulverston, England. This monument was erected on the top of Hoad Hill and stretches one hundred feet into the sky and should have been named Richard Hill. Quips aside, these are indeed indicative of great human-made accomplishments, however, the shape seems to be just unfortunate and the target of many jokes, though they do deserve nothing but respect. There is honestly no better way to end an article of ding-dong buildings than with a sign off tip. To all the architects out there, next time one decides to erect a building, please do not ERECT a building.
